Certified email from the Gmail side panel.

The Mailack add-on adds a side panel to Gmail. From the compose card you send the open draft as certified email through the platform, without copying it into another tool.

Availability: installation from Google Workspace Marketplace is coming soon. There is no install link yet.

  1. 01connection

    Connect your account

The first time, the add-on shows the settings card. Paste your Mailack API key and your organisation id (tenant id) there; both are in the portal. Before saving, the add-on validates the credentials against the Mailack API and tells you if the key was rejected, has no access to that tenant, or could not connect. Once connected, the card shows the tenant and only the last four characters of the key.

    Tenant idportal → API keys

Credentials are stored in the add-on's per-user properties in Google.

  2. 02sending

    Send the draft as certified

Open a draft in Gmail and, in the add-on panel, choose “Send certified with Mailack”. The card validates the draft and, if it passes, the “Send certified” button sends it through Mailack as certified email. The sender is your organisation's default sender in Mailack. When done, the card shows the message id and its state. If you repeat the send with the same content, Mailack recognises it and does not send it again.

  3. 03limits

    What it checks before sending

The draft needs exactly one recipient (To, Cc and Bcc count together and it must be in To), a subject and a body, and attachments cannot total more than 25 MB. If anything fails, the card explains why and nothing is sent. It also tells you if the sender domain is not verified, the recipient is on the suppression list or the monthly quota is used up.

  4. 04tracking

Status and evidence for an opened message

This view is not available yet: today the panel for an opened message shows no certification status or evidence links. Meanwhile, the id and state returned by a send appear on the confirmation card, and full tracking and proof are in the Mailack portal.

  5. 05permissions

Permissions it asks for, and why

The add-on asks for Gmail access with the gmail.compose permission, needed to read the draft you are sending (recipient, subject, body and attachments). It also uses Google's permissions to run as an add-on, act on the message being composed, read the metadata of an opened message, call the Mailack API (script.external_request) and adapt the language. External calls are limited to https://api.mailack.com/.

  6. 06which to use

    Add-on or Chrome extension

The add-on works in Gmail as a side panel and, once on Marketplace, installs from Google. The Chrome extension adds a button to the compose window, notifies you through Chrome and downloads proofs from its popup, but is installed by hand in Chrome. Use the add-on if you prefer Google-managed installation; use the extension if you need notifications and proof downloads today.
